The sculpture is an abstracted landscape of the Apalachicola National Forest. Within the forest, lies the ancient shoreline from the Pleistocene era, demarcated by the transition between white sand and red clay. The work portrays the shift between these two geographies, with 3D printed ceramic arches connecting them. The degrading quality of the arches is a result of limitations of the 3D printer. It was created in speculation of the relationship between our environment and technologies. It imagines the possibility of the seashore to rise back to these levels as technology is limited in its capabilities to mitigate these human effects.
